Hiten Tejwani confirms his role as Karan Virani in the reboot and shares fresh insights on how the storyline will unfold this time.
Ektaa Kapoor’s iconic television drama Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi made its much-awaited return to the small screen on Tuesday. Smriti Irani reprises her legendary role as Tulsi Virani, bringing back the essence of early 2000s Indian TV. In a conversation with India Today, Hiten Tejwani, who returns as Karan Virani, opened up about his excitement. He expressed how surreal it felt to share the screen with Smriti again after so many years, calling it both nostalgic and special for him as an actor.
What Hiten Tejwani Said About
Reflecting on his return to one of Indian television’s most beloved shows, Hiten Tejwani shared his heartfelt thoughts. He began by saying, “Being part of a show like Kyunki is nothing short of an honour. Coming back after nearly 25 years it’s surreal. The moment I stepped on set, it didn’t feel like time had passed at all. It was as if we had simply paused and were now continuing from where we left off.”
He added, “There was a genuine sense of joy. Shows like Kyunki don’t come around often, and for a classic like this to return, and for me to be part of it again, I truly felt grateful. It’s not just a role—it’s a part of television history, and being able to revisit that is incredibly special.”
Hiten Tejwani on Working With Smriti Irani Again
Hiten Tejwani also shared his thoughts on reuniting with Smriti Irani on set after so many years. While Smriti has transitioned into a remarkable political career—becoming a prominent leader in the Bharatiya Janata Party Hiten revealed that her presence on set remains unchanged.
Smriti served as a member of the Indian Parliament for over a decade. She was part of the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat between 2011 and 2019, and later represented Amethi in Uttar Pradesh as a Lok Sabha MP from 2019 to 2024. Despite such an illustrious journey in public service, Hiten said, “She’s still the same on set. Despite everything she’s achieved, she brings that same energy.”
He added that working with her again brought back a sense of familiarity, comfort, and respect something that made the experience truly special.
